Today, at the ceremony and concert dedicated to the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in the University of Tartu assembly hall, the Peeter Tulviste memorial fund prize, the Ernst Jaakson memorial fund scholarship and the Lennart Meri award for research and for master’s thesis were presented.

On 21 February, at the Independence Day ceremony in the University of Tartu assembly hall, the recipients of the Lennart Meri award for research and the Lennart Meri award for master’s thesis were announced. The 6,000-euro award for research went to Timo Aava for his doctoral thesis in history, and the 4,000-euro award to Hegle Pärna for her master’s thesis in law.

Parliament speakers of five countries who met to mark the 105th anniversary of the Tartu Peace Treaty discussed what kind of a peace treaty is needed to end the war and attain lasting peace in Ukraine. They also talked about the universities’ role in ensuring lasting peace.
