Public lecture "The Algorithmification of Society: A wake-up call"
On 6 May, from 16:15 to 17:45, Dagmar Monett, Professor of Computer Science at Berlin School of Economics and Law, Germany, will give a public lecture "The algorithmification of society: a wake-up call" in room 215 at Lossi 36.
Professor Sabine Andresen gave lecture “Ask us! Participatory research’s potential and limitations in childhood and family research”
A day earlier, professor Andresen will be appointed Honorary Doctor in Sociology of the University of Tartu.

On 26 August, from 14:15 to 15:45, Sabine Andresen, Professor of Social Pedagogy and Family Research at the Department of Educational Science, Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, will give a public lecture "Lessons from survivors’ reports about child sexual abuse. The Independent Inquiry into child sexual abuse in Germany", in Room 215 at Lossi 36.
Musician Kadri Voorand to be the new Professor of Liberal Arts at the University of Tartu
In the coming academic year, singer, pianist and composer Kadri Voorand will become the new Professor of Liberal Arts at the University of Tartu, with a lecture course focusing on life-changing creation. She will be succeeded by Peeter Jalakas, former professor and director, who will participate in a public discussion titled “Feeling and meaning” in the attic hall of Tartu Cathedral on the evening of 23 May.

Supporting regional development, and presence in regional centres
In order to use the university's research potential, develop partnerships, and attract more non- university funding, the Faculty of Social Sciences is active in Narva, Pärnu and Tallinn in addition to the university's hometown Tartu.
